04-02-2025 This little lady is Tawny and she has been brought to us from a breeder. Tawny is a little shy and unsure where she finds herself, she likes to keep herself in the back of her kennel with her friends but she will let you fuss with her and give her a cuddle. Tawny is a little overwhelmed at the moment and relies on her kennel friends for support and confidence, due to this she would benefit from another resident dog in her new home! Tawny will need an adult only home to help her settle and adjust to home life, as well as a helping paw with house skills. House skills are something Tawny may not have had to learn being an ex-breeding dog, such as toilet training, lead walking and also hearing house sounds she may have never heard such as the TV and hoover. This little angel is going to thrive in a quiet home, becoming a great companion and friend.
25-02-25 UPDATE
Tawney - A Beagle Who Has Never Known Home Beagles are known for their gentle, placid nature - a trait that has tragically led to them being bred for animal experimentation, where they are tortured and killed in laboratories. Tawney escaped that fate, but she was never truly free. Instead of a life in a loving home, she spent her years in a breeding kennel, producing litter after litter. When she was no longer needed, she was discarded - just another unwanted dog with nowhere to go. That’s when she found her way to us. Tawney has never known a human family. She has never had her own bed, her own place in a home, or someone to call hers. But despite everything, she is slowly learning what love is.
• She adores other dogs and will need a resident dog to help her continue to grow in confidence. • She is nervous on walks at first, but with patience, she settles and enjoys exploring. She walks well with a harness.
• She takes treats gently, a small but beautiful sign of trust.
• She has come out of her shell so much since arriving, and we know she will continue to flourish in the right home.
• She can live with older, dog-savvy children who understand she needs time to adjust.
Beagles are pack dogs, bred to bond with their family. Tawney has never had the chance to feel that connection—but it’s not too late. Please, let’s not let her wait too long. She deserves a home. She deserves love. She deserves a family to call her own. Could that be you?
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
