29-08-24 Sparkle is a beautiful but very scared little girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a spicy lady who  is overwhelmed to find herself here and isn't used to being handled or used to the company of people. She does nip at the moment if she is approached as she is so very scared and needs a huge amount of patience to help her relax. She is most comfortable when in the company of other dogs and has never known life without their company. Sparkle loves to snuggle up to other dogs in bed. She will need a kind confident resident dog that she can copy around the house, play with and share a bed with the snuggle next to. She has never lived in a home before so will need understanding adopters who can help her learn new skills such as housetraining and learning to walk on a lead/harness when she is ready. She will need an adult only home as she would find children too overwhelming at the moment and she will need a calm home that she can thrive in and an adopter who is experienced with scared dogs. She is such a sweet soul who will flourish in the right home where she can have lots of TLC and time to come out of her shell. She has a PETS travel document.

06-12-24 UPDATE
Shortly after Sparkle’s arrival she let us know that she was holding onto a big secret .. she had a tummy full of babies!!! Within a couple of weeks she gave birth to 4 beautiful puppies and was SUCH a good mumma to them and raised them with so much love and care. They’ve all flown the nest now so it’s given Sparkle her chance to shine, and wow is she doing just that! She has such a huge character for such a small dog and she makes us laugh and smile every day. She’s still not overly keen on being handled, but she is so much better than she was when she first came in. Having a belly full of babies probably made her feel a little protective, and uncomfortable too .. bless her.
Sparkle would still love at least 1 resident dog in her new home to follow around and copy, and also snuggle up with as well. She adores having cuddles in bed with her kennel friends here, so it would be lovely if she could do that at home too. She would also LOVE to have her own toy basket if possible because I would say toys are possibly her favourite thing in the world … maybe 2nd to food!!! These are the main things we’ve been using to win her over, and it’s definitely working so far.
She does have a way to go with being anywhere near a ‘normal’ dog and she would still benefit from having an experienced home, but we are hopeful that she will realise eventually that humans are kind. She just needs to be shown a lot of love, patience and TLC, and to not be given up on. Please don’t keep this precious little lady waiting too much longer!

24-01-24 UPDATE
Miss Sparkle had quite a big day today as I took her into the grooming room for the first time to give her a bit of a pamper. Her fringe had started getting quite long so it needed a little trim, and I also just wanted to start getting her used to having a gentle brush and being in a grooming environment. She wasn’t a fan of the scissors being near her face (who could blame her?) but she did really well. She let me trim around her ears with no fuss at all and I also gave her a quick health check too. She was good as gold bless her!
This little girl makes me smile every single day and it makes me so sad that she’s still with us. At 8 years old she should be snuggled up on her very own sofa, not stuck in a kennel. She absolutely LOVES her comforts and you will always find her cuddled up in the back of her kennel. I’ve made it into a bit of a palace so she has multiple duvets and soft beds to choose from … and she approves!! Seeing her warm and cosy in a home would be the dream though. I’m keeping everything crossed it can happen for her soon.

18-02-2025 UPDATE

Little Miss Sparkle has been here a little over a week, she is such a dear little soul, no trouble whatsoever and so far is loving her food, loving the garden and just generally decompressing. She is very comfortable with my six dogs, but doesn't appear to need a cuddle buddy and what is so lovely, she has started to choose to spend time in the room with us, rolling around in her little bed as if free of cares AND a special, small, but so important a thing to me, she has started playing with her little chew toy, the one she brought with her. It is SO rare for rescue dogs over 1 or 2yo to play with toys, it makes us smile greatly. She still will not allow us to handle her, she is expert at elluding us, but her tail remains aloft and she is growing in confidence.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
