05-08-24 Sheyla is a very sweet, genuine, active girl who loves a fuss and has come to us from Ukraine via War Paws Rescue. Sheyla is a sprightly girl who enjoys going for walks, playing in the yard and having a fuss. Sheyla prefers women to men but despite some nervousness with men she will accept kind men over a little time. She is a lovely confident girl who just wants to be in your company whenever she can. She gets zoomies and loves to play and jump all over her kennel friend. She definitely enjoys her doggy pals company but we've found she can be picky with the dogs she likes since arriving at Many Tears. When she is alone Sheyla is much calmer and just relaxes to enjoy some attention. Sheyla walks on a lead and loves to investigate all the smells. She is looking for an active home with a confident larger male resident dog that is happy to share their home and humans.
Adopters will need to build a bond with her, give her plenty of time to settle and be mindful that she is new to the UK so when out and about may never have seen/heard things we consider normal so will need to be introduced into the big wide world slowly and put in environments she can grow in confidence and flourish. She has never lived in a home before so she will need help learning new skills such as housetraining and given plenty of understanding as she finds her feet. She does have a small umbilical hernia our vets have checked over and can be discussed with our rehoming team. Sheyla has a passport.

Sheyla has been tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Borrelia, Babesia and Canine Brucellosis while in the Ukraine between 2022-2023. She was positive for a Heartworm test in 2022 which was followed up with a scan a week later which was negative. Sheyla has also been tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Borrelia and Canine Brucellosis since her arrival at the rescue using Bionote rapid tests and all were negative. We understand that vets have differing policies in regards to imported dogs and may request testing again in 3 months hence why these dogs are by a reduced adoption fee. Our rehoming team can provide futher information on the tests completed if required. We will be retesting the dogs again in 3 months if they have not been adopted by then and are happy for adopters to bring their dogs back to the rescue for testing and will only charge the cost of the tests. 

10-09-24 UPDATE

Sheyla has come all the way to us from the Ukraine. Considering the trauma she must have gone through with the amount of time she’s taken to get here, she is one of the most friendliest and most loving dogs you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. She loves going out for walks and seeing new things and walks patiently beside you. She is currently kennelled with a couple of dogs and she gets on amazingly well with them. She would definitely benefit from going to a home with a resident dog, but for the right family I think she could be considered as an only dog. She’s made a long trip to get here to Many Tears, and now she just needs that one last trip up the motorway to her forever home. Don’t keep this girl waiting in kennels any longer.

Sheyla is currently being treated for an infection in her nose which was causing her to reverse sneeze and produce a lot of mucus. A nasal swab was taken which confirmed bacterial infection and she is improving greatly on antibiotics and is still her happy self! Our vets will continue to monitor her and update once she has completed her course.  

06-11-2024 UPDATE

Sheyla… where do I start. This girl is amazing, after everything she has been through she still continues to give and show us love. She will put her two front paws on your legs and give you some kisses, if you sit on the floor she will cuddle up on your lap. Sheyla has been with us for 3 months now and deserves nothing more than to be in a warm fuzzy bed with a loving family she can finally call her own. She walks lovely on the lead and is harness trained. Sheyla can be selective on what dogs she likes and we have tried her with a variety of different dogs of all breeds, ages and sex. We’ve come to the conclusion that she prefers larger males only, with this in mind we would recommend rehoming her with a larger male or as an only. Sheyla should go to an adult only home as children would be too much for her she needs a calm and relaxing environment where she can flourish. Sheyla is such a sweet girl and most of the staff here absolutely love her, and don’t understand why she’s still here. I think she’s being overlooked as she’s a cross bread from Ukraine and she really shouldn’t be, she’s never put a foot wrong and is absolutely ready to be in a home. Please don’t ignore this girl and think about what she’s been through it’s really heartbreaking. Give her a chance and she’ll be the best decision you’ll make.

13-02-25 UPDATE
Our beautiful Sheyla is so incredibly special, it’s hard to put into words, but I’m going to try my best to give you all a feel for what I feel when I spend time with Sheyla. When Sheyla arrived at the rescue, we noticed her breathing was a little “off”, and after multiple vet checks, blood tests, nasal swabs, scopes etc. she has begun treatment for a possible fungal infection in her nasal passages. These kinds of infections aren’t always easy to treat, and require patience. We think we are just starting to see little improvements which are giving us a glimmer of hope for beautiful Sheyla. This treatment could be ongoing for a while yet, but we still pray that there might be someone just as special as she is out there for her. Despite everything this girl has been through, she is still an absolute ray of sunshine. Those of us that are lucky enough to get to spend some time with her, are greeted with the most incredible cuddles. These cuddles are SO precious, it feels like she is nuzzling right into your soul. In those moments she creates this connection where it feels like there is no one else in the world, just you and Sheyla. She is the kind of dog that will “rescue” you just as much as you rescue her. Her previous updates cover the kind of home she is looking for, but I just wanted to highlight what she will offer you in return. Please don’t let Sheyla wait much longer.
